PIRATES MATCH TO GO AHEAD

PIRATES MATCH TO GO AHEAD

Orlando Pirates' match against Etoile de Sahel will go ahead as planned in the city of Sousse some 90 minutes drive away from Tunis.

This comes after a suspected terrorists bomb blast in Tunis on Tuesday denoted and claimed the lives of 13 army officers.A state of emergency has been declared by the head of state in an effort to curb more bloodshed and contain the crisis. The border with war torn neighbours Libya has been closed and a reinforced surveillance of maritime borders and airports increased.

The final will now be played two hours earlier and will now start at 16h00  South African  time instead of initial 20h30.Sahel initiated the request after the government announce a nationwide night curfew  on Wednesday.

Confederation of African Football approved the request and now the Buccaneers will battle the 'Red Devils'in the sweltering heat of Sousse.

12000 tickets have been available for the 28000 capacity Olympic Stadium  because of fear of an outbreak of political violence .

This might work in Buccaneers favour just like in the semi finals in Egypt where they played in an empty Cairo Stadium and emerged victorious against the mighty Al Ahly.

Habashweeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ORLANDO PIRATES FACE UPHILL BATTLE IN TUNIS:

Orlando Pirates travel to hot Tunisia for the return leg of the 2015  CAF Confederations Cup Final against  crack outfit Etoile  du Sahel of Sousse on Sunday afternoon.

Pirates  where held to a 1-1 draw at Orlando Stadium last Saturday and have to produce a masterclass to overcome the gusty Tunisians.Etoile de Sahel have not lost at home in the tournament and Pirates will have to dig deep to overcome them.

The Buccaneers as they affectionately known have bagged an amazing 28 goals in this year's tournament campaign so far,and  have to again rely on bully striker Thamsanqa Gabuza who scored a  screamer last Saturday. The bulldozing striker has bagged six goals in the tournament whereas his striking partner Kermit Erasmus has five.

Eric Tinkler's men have averaged at least two goals per game in this  year's Confederations  Cup Competition and are proven good travellers having beaten African football powers houses  the likes of TP Mazembe,AL Alhy,Zamalek and AFC Leopards in there own backyards.
Orlando Pirates will field the same starting eleven that battled Sahel in Orlando as there are no injuries reported and have vowed to attack the North Africans from the starting whistle.

Pirates will depart from OR Tambo Airport on Thursday morning via Dubai and arrive in Tunis on Friday  they travel by road to Sousse which is 140km away from the capital.

LISENETHINI

LISENETHINI:18\11\2015

This is a football blog dedicated to the promotion of the' beautiful game' here in the Buffalo City Municipality and the surrounding towns like Qonce,Ngqushwa,Dikeni,Gcuwa,Ntab'ozuko, and Rhini. This region of the Eastern Cape has been a hotbed in the production of successful football players in the past years.

We have a number of teams campaigning in the local South African Football Association's  ABC Motsepe League as well as based in the above mentioned towns league namely Tornadoes Football Club[Mdantsane],Buffalo Football Club[Amalinda],Angavu Football Club and Future Tigers[Ginsberg].

SAFA-Buffalo City Regional League is the highly contested stream in Eastern Cape structures as it features competitive teams from the East London areas like Parkside,Beacon Bay,Tsholomnqa and Mdantsane the second biggest township in South Africa.

The region also has a vibrant women's soccer league starting from the under 11 right up to the senior ladies teams. The teams campaign in the SAFA Sasol League.Teams like Thunderbirds[Gcuwa],Birmingham City[Ziphunzane],University of Fort Hare[Dikeni] represent Buffalo City.

A junior league also exist and it covers the entire region of the municipality in an effort to promote youth development, curb drug usage and encourage participation in sport.Teams campaign in SAFA Local Football Association[L FA]and are grouped into seven associations namely Bunkers West,East London Central,East London North,Mdantsane,King Williams Town,King Central,King East,Royal Rharhabe.

The most successful youth league set up in the region is the East London Central Local Football Association which dates back to over a 100 years of existence and is based at the North End stadium. It has a produced excellent players like Geoffrey Gamiet who played in the 1979-1989,Nigel Dickson a former Mthatha Bush Bucks goalkeeper as well as Brendan Augustine  a former Mthatha Bush Bucks,Ajax player and Bafana Bafana striker during the 90's and  went on to play in Austria for FC Lask Linz during peak.

The following teams are so some of the prominent participants in the  L FA  League Saints Football Club,Swaraj FC,Central United FC,Conquerors FC,Leeds United FC,Millan FC,City Brothers FC and Riverside FC.

Amateur football will also get coverage in this column.Buffalo City has a well organised amateur football league that is structured along township lines in order to minimize traveling costs.Mdantsane,Ntabozuko as well as Qonce fall in the same category whereas Ziphunzane,Parkside,Pefferville,North End,Gompo and Buffalo Flats, also operate there own amateur league.

At the moment Buffalo City has not been producing quality footballers except for Ngqushwa born Super Sport United FC left back Luvolwethu Mpetha.
